Building on linguistic studies on multilingualism, this contribution elaborates the so-called Southern Schleswig literature as an area of tension of language varieties. An analysis of the manifestation of language ideology in a revue text (2016) and a poem (1977/2011) demonstrates that complex variety constellations are often wrongly dominated by aspects of territorial and identity politics. This article is pleading for the analysis of the reference to the addressees within multilingual literature and the social relations in which the communicating parties take their stand.
